Why use interval cues for meditation?
Checking a clock pulls you out of practice. Cues at set points let you hand off the timekeeping and still move through a structure, which is especially helpful when you are building the habit.
The five phases
Settle in (1 minute), deep breathing (2 minutes), body scan (3 minutes), open awareness (3 minutes) and closing breaths (1 minute). Use them as suggestions: the timer simply plays your chosen sound at each boundary.
Questions
Can I use a single repeating cue instead?
Yes. Use the Repeat tab on the home page: set an interval, for example 5 minutes, and your chosen sound plays every time it passes.
Which sound is best for meditation?
Most people prefer the Tibetan bowl or zen chime. You can preview every sound on the home page before you start.
Is it free?
Yes, and it works without an account.
