Every minute on the minute: a cue sounds at the start of each minute. Do your reps, rest for whatever is left, and go again at the next cue.

How to use it

  1. Choose a set you can finish in 30 to 40 seconds, for example 10 kettlebell swings.
  2. Tap Start. When the cue sounds, do the set.
  3. Rest for the rest of the minute. The next cue starts the next set.
  4. It is a 10-minute routine that keeps looping until you stop (Loop is on by default), so stop at 10, 20 or 30 minutes.

How EMOM training works

EMOM workouts give you a fixed amount of work at the start of every minute. The faster you finish, the more rest you get. As fatigue builds, your rest shrinks, which makes it a simple way to measure and build work capacity.

Picking the right load

Choose reps you can finish with at least 15 to 20 seconds to spare in the first minute. If you start missing the next cue, reduce the reps rather than the rest.

Questions

What does EMOM stand for?

Every Minute On the Minute. A set starts at the top of each minute and the remaining time is rest.

Can I do a 20 or 30 minute EMOM?

Yes. With Loop on (the default) the 10 minutes repeat until you stop. Switch Loop off on the timer screen for exactly 10.

Can I alternate exercises?

Yes. Rename the minutes in the routine editor (for example "Swings" and "Push-ups") so the next movement shows on screen.
